Get Free WIFI on American Airlines Flights

Get Free WIFI on American Airlines Flights

This is a trick that you will only find on Mileaholic.

I am not a fan of American Airlines on board entertainment. I am also not a fan of the Gogo WiFi they have on board. This is a ground based network and its one of the slowest in the market. They don't keep up with the industry satellite systems and that is a main reason Gogo was sued by American a few months ago. That lawsuit has since been dropped as American is looking for better options.

Until then, there is a way to get internet access on board without paying anything.

Here is what you do. Note: This will only work on phones that have the App store by Apple or the google play store on Android.

Step 1: Make sure you are at least 10,000 feet in the air, otherwise Gogo is blacked out and you wont be able to connect

Step 2: Connect to Gogo through your wifi settings

Step 3: Click "Entertainment" button on the menu of the top left corner within the Gogo flight information page

Step 4: "Act" like you want to rent a movie. So pick any movie you like (It doesn't matter which one) and click "Rent" (You will not be charged for clicking this)

Step 5: It will ask you if you have the Gogo phone app downloaded. Click which store you need to download it from. (App Store or Google Play)

Step 6: Enter the security code or answer and click submit

Congrats you are now connected to the internet for free!

Note: You don't actually have to download any apps. You will have full internet access for around 17 min and can repeat these steps once your time is up. I believe after 4 or 5 times you wont be able to repeat as it will say you have done this too many times.

But even then, its a minute of work to get about an hour or more of internet access without paying anything
